Call to Arms
Built by Arrakyn the Cruel in the aftermath of the Godslayer War, Gurodruin came to be known as “The Fortress of Lost Hope” as those who displeased the God-Emperor would disappear into its sprawling dungeons and were never seen again.
It was also the primary seat of Arrakyn’s power in the far south, and was built to support a garrison of many thousands of men and hundreds of giants, with adamant walls and towering, impervious gates. Arrakyn and the backbone of his army remained there throughout the Age of Discord.
The stronghold survived the breaking of the world, though it was damaged as the land on which it stood rose over a thousand feet and fractured in many places. The formation of a nearby and highly active volcano (Mount Daegol, aka “the mountain of wrath”) forced Arrakyn to abandon the fortress and leave it in the care of his Fire Giants. Since then many of the dungeons were lost or rediscovered and orcs and many other monsters lair within.
